Hospital in the Home Medical Team
The HITH Medical team consists of the following staff; they work in close co operation with the HITH nursing teams assigned to each hospital and GP catchment area.
Medical Director
Professor NG Mc Elvaney MB,
FRCPI, FRCPC, Professor of Medicine, Chairman, Dept of Medicine, RCSI.
The Medical Directors role is to provide regulatory and high level input and guidance to the other Medical and nursing members of the HITH team. The review and adaptation of Protocols and the evaluation of the programme on an ongoing clinical basis are also within his remit.
Consultant team
The Consultant team consists of suitably qualified and experienced Consultant physicians. The Consultant team provide on site assessment of patients admitted into the programme and Medical support and services to the Nursing teams. The role and responsibilities of the HITH Consultants is broadly similar to that of a Hospital based Consultant physician.
Medical Faculty
The faculty panel is made up of suitably qualified registrar level practitioners. Their role is to support the consultants in the clinical operation of the service. These Doctors offer Medical cover as required by the Consultant team, this includes domiciliary visits and on call services.
These Physicians are contracted to commit to a specific level of duties within the Service as required by the Consultant team. The panel will expand in line with Service requirements.
